1. To increase the number of trainees who are underrepresented in medicine (African American, Latino, Native Americans, Asian Pacific Islander) in the Department of Medicine Residency Programs.
2. The increase the diversity of all Residency Programs.
3. To promote a more accepting and friendly atmosphere for minority residents, gay/lesbian/bisexual residents, and residents with disabilities.
4. To address general diversity issues as defined by U.C.S.F. residents and committee members such as residents with children or married residents.
